The fifth episode of the Flash season 7 is titled “Fear Me”. The loose of the Speed force
Synopsis of the episode
When a powerful new villain channels and amplifies everyone’s fears in order to wreak havoc on Central City, Barry realizes that he must face his own worst fear in order to beat this new threat
The majority of the episode was focused on checking in with Barry and Iris’ emotional state. Of course, that changed in the last few minutes with the introduction of the hulking beast, a.k.a. Fuerza, as of this episode thanks to Cisco, who was impervious to an anti-matter bomb and whose introduction gave us the new Graphic Novel’s latest mystery. Tonight’s episode, “Fear Me,” added another piece of the Fuerza puzzle with the introduction of Psych. Read more…
Cecile is the first to detect the new villain, as she hallucinates a straightjacketed, purple-eyed fiend urging her to come home. Joe initially dismisses it as a nightmare, but he’s the first to suggest a Freddy Kreuger meta could be responsible. At STAR Labs, the gang already has its hands full. First, there’s the issue of Caitlin and Frost having been split into two separate beings. Next comes a lightning storm that expels the Speed Force in its human form, that of Barry’s mother Nora. (Why the new Artificial Speed Force would still have the same persona as the original, now-dead one is not really something we’re supposed to think too deeply about, I guess.) Read more…
Summary
The team deduces that Eva used her Mirror Gun on Caitlin, which led to Frost’s metahuman DN requiring a new body. Caitlin and Frost initially argue over whether to re-merge or stay separat but eventually agree to the latter. Meanwhile, Barry is visited by the Speed Force, as his moth
Nora Allen, carrying the same energy signature the monster that attacked Barry and Kadabra, n named “Fuerza”. Barry gives the Speed Force hi speed gauge to monitor its health before fighting a new enemy, Psych, who is using fear waves t trap everyone in Central City in perpetual nightmares. Barry ends up in one involving Eobard Thawne and Savitar, and ends up injured. Team Flash uses Barry’s speed, Cecile’s abilities, and
Clifford DeVoe’s hover-chair to send out a cour wave. However, Psych disappears and Barry ha not recovered, so he puts himself back in his cryogenic chamber. Elsewhere, Kristen Kramer, liaison from the Governor’s Municipal Logistics Commission, arrives at the CCPD. Distrustful of her, Iris conducts a background check while Kramer admits to Joe that she is there to arrest Frost. Later, the Speed Force says Psych also attacked them and that he and Fuerza are “like her”.
It makes a twisted kind of sense, then, that Barry’s solution to the Psych threat comes from another Big Bad: Clifford DeVoe, whose intellect-enhancing chair is now part of the STAR Labs trophy collection. Cecile, who has been picking up the nightmares of everyone in Central City, uses the chair to boost her empathic abilities. When Barry finds the courage to face down his fears, Cecile uses the chair to transmit that courage throughout the city, freeing its citizens from Psych’s grip.
