MY LOVE UNDER THE UMBRELLA TREE

Poem by Abiola Adedoyin

Come, come and meet me my love

Beneath the low branching umbrella tree

That I may see your beauty in the dark.

And kiss you ever smiling lips

Loud blew the wind, loud sang the cricket

Beneath the low branching umbrella tree

And there I waited for her

Whom I love

Oh why come she not to me

Beneath the low branching umbrella tree

Where we can be alone

And no whispering tongue may disturb.

There she comes, there she comes

To meet me beneath the low branching umbrella tree

As the little twinkling star,

Reveals her beauty in the sky

Her smile was loveable,

He step were slient,

As she came to meet me

Beneath the low branching umbrella trees

Charmed by her beauty

I heard myself say;

I will stay with her forever

But where is she?
