TOUCH ME NOT

Poem by Abiola Adedoyin

Here I am again

With Touch me not

As the name suggests

So it behaves

And as I touched it, so it’s leaves

Wriggling as if struggling

To stay alive, close

And as I regret touching it

The leaves bloom again as if by magic

So I touched it again

To see if I was not dreaming

Yet the leaves

Wriggling again as if

Struggling to stay alive, close

Here I am again

With Touch me not

As the name suggests

A

So it behaves

And as I touched it

So it’s leaves

Wriggling like worms

Whom the mischievous child

Has poured salt upon,wither

But as I regret touching it

The leaves, as if they had been praying

Come alive again

So I touched it again

To see the wonders of nature
