IN LOVE WITH MY STEP [Episode 2]

Episode 2 – Daddy’s Girlfriend

my door bell ranged continuously…waking me up from my sleep, that must be dad. Farad it’s time for salat come let’s pray, I’m down stairs waiting! – Dad calls. I got up and washed my face first. I performed ablution and joined him in our morning salat (Subhi). Dad is a very simple man(and I love him), as he’s first son he wants me to be closer to him and emulate him. After the salat dad ask me to call my sisters for a short family chat. Family chat? I replied as a question..but dad didn’t bother answering my question.

 Good morning dad, we all greeted and sat on the mat. Then He addressed us in a low tune: Good morning to you my children, I know you all would be surprised why I called for this meeting. But it’s essential for you all to know the step I’m about to take and I hope to hear your consent. 

He continued: “It’s 2years since your mum past away (may her soul rest on). Ever since then I have hold myself and honour her departure sincerely. It won’t cost me anything to stay single for the rest of my life but for your sake I’d have to find a new wife to help me look after my brilliant children while I’m away”( I was surprised). Is there any of you who finds it offensive? – No Sir, we all replied at once. 

Naomi: Dad I’d like to ask you a question, if you don’t mind. Have you started seeing someone or you have someone on mind already? 

Dad: Yes Zainab. There’s this beautiful lady I’ve been going out with and I think she would be a good mother to you girls. 

Farad:Aghh, this is cheating! only the girls? What about me dad. I asked. 

Dad: You’re part of the family so you will definitely get same love.

Priscilla: Dad so you have a girlfriend. This is really interesting!

And that how the drama all started. Daddy’s girlfriend became the gist of the day and you know how girls does their things. The way they were exaggerating the girlfriend stuff was making me eager to see Dad’s girlfriend. we curiously await our future step mother in the evening.  

At exactly 9pm in the evening. Our guest arrived. We piped through the curtain facing the sitting room. Wowww… Amazing!. Look at that rose-like gown suited like Cinderella’s, she looks like a model. We admired Daddy’s girl friend as she stepped in. She looks familiar, I guess I’ve seen this face before – I said.  

Priscilla: No no no, you can’t know her Farad. She’s probably not one of your crush you met yesterday. This is your step.

Naomi: let’s go meet her up before dad comes.

Priscilla: That won’t be necessary. She’s already with dad. 

 Wow that’s cool. Let’s give the couple time together before we are called for proper introduction. I replied. 

Immediately, dad asked the house keeper to call us. We came out and then joined them in the dining table.  

Dad: Let me introduce you all to my honoured guest Miss. Zakiyah Teslim, a woman of high intellect. She’s a great business woman with one of the most popular boutique in Abuja “Zara’s Collection”( Zara’s collection? I questioned within me). Zakiyah meet my children Zainab, Farad & Maryam. 

She replied: Hi my Kids. With a beautiful smile! 

My Dad continued: we’ve been together for quite a while now and we’ve decided to tie the knot.

Naomi and Priscilla: Congratulations Dad! Congratulations Ma. We are happy to hear this good news.

I was the only one without a comment as I Kept starring at Miss. Zakiyah in surprise(this is getting me more curious). As she saw me starring she hanged on her meal and said “Hi Farad, We Meet again”. What!!!
