IN LOVE WITH MY STEP [Episode 6]

Episode
6 – Daddy’s wedding

 The long awaited day is here. This is like a
dream come true for Miss Zakiyah Teslim who is officially tying the knot with
my dad. Congratulations to them both!.

Our
home was filled with strangers and relatives. My dad has been wearing a smiling
face for the past 24hours( is not easy to marry someone who you truly love..I
could see the happiness in my dad’s eyes), I’m sure He didn’t sleep last night.
Two of he’s brothers came from UK for the event. Also he’s half sister and her
mother from Kano arrived that night. It’s really a big day for him(I could
imagine).

(  I begin to imagine that on my own wedding day
even the president of the nation will come…I laughed inwardly at my thought)
Everyone was busy with one work or the other. I being Dad’s best man was less
stressful as I was with him all day. Naomi and Priscilla help the caterers as
they prepare the meals. It was really an etic day for them. 

The
ceremony was divided into two parts; The Nikkah & The Reception. The Nikkah
was fixed at 10:00pm and the Venue was no other place than the mosque. Naomi
wasn’t able to meet up with the Nikkah because she had a lot of things
doing(ladies work).

We
arrived at the mosque 20minutes late. By then the Imam had already started. The
Muslim ustaz shared Quran Tira amongst them self and in less than 20minutes
they were done with the whole quran. The Imam called the bride’s family and
asked if they permit the union and they said yes. With both party agreeing to
the union Mr. Ahmed Zubairu & Mrs. Ahmed Zakiyah are legally joined. The
crowd danced out to celebrate the couple. Amazing! Muslim marriage is really
simple and fast.

After
the Nikkah we returned home to prepare for the Reception party. Meanwhile I and
Zara have been doing some love chemistry.

Now
the big drama began. The reception party for 
Daddy’s Wedding. We made use of an event centre so everyone would be
comfortable and also because of the population present. They were a lot of
politician sitting on the high table and many other famous persons attended the
event.

I
stood with dad at the front of the bride and groom tent. While Zara held the
hands of her mother (the bride) with a lot of smiles on her face her smiles was
making my heart flutter, while other bride’s maid held her gown and two others
were spraying flowers as she walks toward us. 
Everything was going fine until something Mysterious happened when Mrs.
Zakiyah was about to wear the ring on her husband’s finger. The ring fell from
her hands twice before she eventually got it right. The crowd stare in surprise
of this scene, I overheard some saying it is bad omen. To me it just happened I
guess her hands were slippery that’s all.

After
the engagement, the party began! The DJ hit our guest with trending hiphop
songs. The groom and bride dance romantically while the guest spray them money.
I and Zara was getting along romantically too and we even forgot we were in
public. This love chemistry between we two is very obvious and am not ready to
let go, it was more like it was our on wedding. Mrs. Zakiyah noticed we were
being too attached. Immediately after the whole drama she called Zara to order
and reminded her that I am her step brother( I was heart broken… does she
have to remind how unfair my fate is right now?)

That
evening didn’t end well at all. The whole family celebrated together that
evening. Zara was sitting next to me but she behaved neutral, no chemistry this
time. Priscilla was watching we two and she noticed something wasn’t right. As
she (Zara) stood up to clear some dishes, I followed her assisting her with
some dishes but when we got to the corridor her reaction was messy She turn and
faced me saying: We can’t keep doing this! Please stay away from me. I asked
her what went wrong. – And she said nothing but she realized she can’t be in
love with her step…
