10 – Hidden Secret (Finale)

 Author’s POV

Everyone
has a deep secret. When I say everyone I mean everyone even the most holy also
do have a secret. Just that Some secrets are never spilled mostly when only one
or few persons know about it. But I learnt that family secrets are always
revealed, no matter how long it takes to keep it..And no matter how tragic the
secret is.

Step
Mom: What’s wrong with you Zara? I thought I warned you never to mention
this…(it came out almost in a yell) – Zara replied: Mom I’m sorry but Farad
is everything to me. Right from the day I met him I have always loved him. I
really don’t know if it’s because of how you spoke about him when he caught a
thief in your boutique. But my feelings for him are inevitable.. mum please try
to understand.

Dad:
What’s really going on here? Farad & Zara Are you both dating each other? –
Yes Dad I replied. We can’t hide our feelings anyone. I continued: Dad she’s my
step sister, I know it looks strange for us to be in love with each other. But
it’s not Haram Dad.

Dad:
yes my son, but it’s very difficult to take such decision. And your case with
Zara is more complicated than mine. – What do you mean dad? I asked politely.

Step
mom, Zara and my sisters were surprise to hear dad say this.

 Dad: Yes Farad, Just like my late wife (your
mom), she was my first cousin and we were already had a baby (Naomi) together
before we knew we were that related. What?!. It cause serious trouble then,
some of the villagers said the child (Naomi) must be killed and our union
should be terminated. But somehow God helped us out and here we are facing
similar fate. Right now I really don’t know what to decide.

 It’s okay my husband. Step mom said to her
husband.

We
were all shock to hear dad share this secret he and mom hide for many
years…waw so everyone do have a secret.

Naomi
and Priscilla was so mute. Priscilla asked dad why he never told us but all dad
said was “They’re things that should be left untold unless there’s a similar
event”. We all thought this was the only secret to take in until step mom told
us she has a confession to make.

Step
Mom: Zara my dear. It will hurt me to say this “Am not your real mother”

Zara:
What?? Mom why will you say that? I know it’s because you’re angry with me.

Priscilla
was waiting to hear what next. Dad was confused of this reveal. Naomi always
gets tired listening to stuff.

Step
mom: No Zara, It’s the truth I never told you the truth about your dad because
I never met him. I don’t even know if he’s alive or not. – What do you mean
mom? Zara said in shock. Step mom continued: Zara you are my sister’s daughter.
I had a twin sister named Aliyah she was your mother. And she died given birth
to you. Aliyah kept her pregnancy hidden from me and our parent because she was
ashamed to tell us she was pregnant for a thug. She never revealed his named to
us not even in her death bed. According to her, the man that impregnate her
have no idea he did. So after her death I took you in and raised you like my
own child. Doing this brought me divine favor. I was greatly uplifted and
that’s why I named my boutique after you. I’m sorry I never told you.

I
had to reveal it now in this crucial time so you and Farad can get along.
Because I know you really do love him. And I’m sorry for asking you to stay
away from him.

This
is really an epic tale said Priscilla. 

We
were all surprise with this last reveal but I was happy because it is the key
to approval between me and Zara.

With
this story, how can I fix the name? I’m in love with my step cousin? Whatever.
Let’s leave it the former way I’m in love with my Step. Lolzz

The
whole Family came together with a warm hug. I held the hands of Zara and said
we won this. We really did.

Apart
from love we learnt so much more from this Tale. Like; Always speaking the
truth. As a father is good to pay attention to your children, don’t be always
harsh to them because it prevents them from speaking the truth.

This
Family is united and they give support to one another. They easily settle their
differences and live happily. Is there any Family like this in Nigeria?….
(That question is for the readers).

While
we celebrate together dad and step mom said we should keep this hidden secret
between us. I knew enjoyment is just for a while.
