The Life Of A Pious Woman Episode 4

Continued from the previous episode …

Naziat – (lost in thought)

Chika – (noticed her absence from the words he spoke) Are you okay?

Naziat – (still didn’t hear him talking)

Chika – (Waved his hands) Are you okay?

Naziat – Ohhh yes I am… I’m sorry I was just thinking about something..

Chika – Ohhh about your friend, she would be fine. You don’t need to worry too much..

Naziat – Yes you are right. Insha Allah she will be fine. (She faked a smile at him)

Chika – insha’Allah… You must be a very pious Muslim.

Naziat – (surprised) you pronounced it so well… but then, why did you say that? I’m a pious woman?

Chika – Because it’s true!… Islam is written all over you. Your dressing, your attitude and your words. It defines you!. You must be a pious woman.

Naziat – (smiled) you are good with teasing. Thank you anyways. (She stood up as she saw her friends coming towards them)

Maryam – (rushed down to hug Naziat) Thank you!…

Faridah – (worried) hope she’s alright?

Naziat – insha’Allah she will be. You don’t have to be worried (talking to both Maryam and Faridah)

Faridah – (sights Chika starring at them but ignores and asked more questions) So how much will her treatment going to cost let’s know how will can gather that within ourselves?

Maryam – (in support of Faridah’s suggestions) Yes please

Naziat – We don’t have to worry about that either.

Maryam – (raised her heads up and stares directly at Naziat’s eyes)

Faridah – Nazi?? What are you saying. You know we can’t allow you to pay alone.

Naziat – I’m not paying anything. The bills are already been cleared.

Faridah – By who?.. (she asked a loud because her instincts already told her it was the guy at the extreme end of the chair)

Naziat – By this young man at the extreme end… He’s name is Chika.

Maryam – Ohhh!

Faridah – (not happy about it) Why?… Why is he paying?… Why did you allow him to pay? (She asked not comfortable with it)

Naziat – (spoke calmly) Faridah.. you need to calm down and keep down your voice. We are in the hospital and we shouldn’t create a scene.

Faridah – (turned away from Naziat’s front and walked to extreme end of the chair to meet Chika) Good Morning Sir!..

Chika – (raised his faces up to hear what she has to say) Good morning!..

Faridah – Sorry Ohh, I want to ask. Please are you friend’s with any of my friends?

Naziat – (intends to stop her from asking Chika silly questions but Maryam held her back to let Faridah be)

Chika – (Laughed) sounds funny! The Answer is ‘No’ because I don’t know any of your friends.

Faridah – Ehhnn.. so why did you pay the hospital bills of someone you aren’t friend’s with.

Chika – (smiled) It’s simple! You know the answer to that.

Faridah – Oga tell me. I don’t know any answer. (She responded rudely)

Chika – (noticed her reaction) I’m sorry!. Please can I ask you a question?

Faridah – No. Answer my question first.

Naziat – (paid attention to Chika’s reply. She thought he was going to respond rudely to her)

Chika – okay… I can see you are a Muslim and I’m a Christian, but that doesn’t stop me from helping whoever I want to. And a person doesn’t have to be your friend before you help them.

Naziat – (smiled listening to his response)

Faridah – No no no (she felt bad with his response) I’m not bringing in religious difference here. I’m sorry if that’s how you see it!. My concern is you are a boy and she’s a girl.

Chika – It’s okay… (He stood up and smiled) I understand what you mean. I wouldn’t want to cause more troubles here. I have to leave now.

Maryam – (Thinks Chika was offended)

Faridah – (feeling bad already) No sir. Please sorry for my reaction. (She apologized)

Chika – I’m not upset (he said to Faridah and waved briefly at Naziat) I wish your friend quick recovery (he turned away and left)

Naziat – You see what your anger has caused? (She asked Faridah)

Maryam – You should have calmed down and lock up…

Faridah – (eyes wide open as she saw the doctor coming towards them)

Doctor – (spoke to all of them) Wow!… It’s really rare to see Muslim ladies dressed like this in this part of the country. You girls must be a special gene… And I must say God is working on your favour. Your friend is awake now. You can all go in.

Naziat & her friends – Thank you doctor!.. (They all said unisonally and rushed in to meet their friend)

Doctor – (left to attend to other emergency)

Halimat – (happy to see her friends visiting) Come here my babies…

(They all hugged her as she laid on the bed. Once again they began to a have a good time gisting together until the name ‘Chika’ was being mentioned in their conversation…)

Halimat – (she thinks) ‘Chika’.. I have heard that name before

Faridah – Yes I mentioned it when we over heard Sandra and Nazi discussion.

Halimat – No… Not just that (she thinks back of a moment from her past) That name ‘Chika’ is more familiar than you think….

(Now all four girls are in a state of confusion… )
