Strike: NLC and TUC to consider FG proposal – Minister

The Federal Government on Sunday met with the leadership of the Nigeria Labor Congress and Trade Union Congress on a solution to the dispute arising from the removal of subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petrol.
Minister of Information and National Guidance Mallam Mohamed Idris said in a statement on Sunday night that some of the resolutions reached during the meeting included that the unions consider proposals from the apex government.

“The NLC and TUC will consider the federal government’s proposal with a view to suspending the planned strike to allow further consultations on the implementation of the resolution,” he said.Other solutions, he said, include: “Conflicts can only be resolved when workers are at work, not when there is a strike.“Unions are advocating for increased wages and the federal government has promised to take Labor demands to President Bola Tinubu for further consideration.” A committee will be formed to determine details of the success of each project for evaluation of government intervention.
Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said, “The critical issues of the Nigerian Road Transport Workers Union and the National Road Transporters Association of Lagos State need urgent resolution,” adding that they are determined to join online and resolve this issue. “
