NYSC Camps: Auchi Polytechnic Students Face Renewed Eligibility Concerns

Auchi Polytechnic PCMs encounter a familiar issue with their graduation date, mirroring the problem faced during Batch A NYSC mobilization, which may impact their ability to proceed with their national service.

At some NYSC orientation camps, Auchi Polytechnic graduates (PCMs) have been asked to leave the camp due to a discrepancy in their school’s graduation date, which falls short of the required duration as calculated by the academic calendar, leading to their ineligibility for service deployment.

They reported that, the PCMs of Auchi Polytechnic finished their program in 29 months, falling short of the 30-month requirement, which led to their disqualification from participating in the NYSC program.

The issue of Auchi Polytechnic students’ eligibility for NYSC service, which arose in April 2024 during Batch A Stream 2 mobilization due to a one-month program duration discrepancy, was later resolved following a meeting between the Rector of Auchi Polytechnic and NYSC officials in Abuja, where the issue was formally addressed and resolved.

Reports indicate that the date was reevaluated and recalculated to span from June 21, 2021, to November 23, 2023, which aligns with the standard academic calendar for the Higher National Diploma (HND) program, thereby resolving the discrepancy.

The issue has resurfaced in some camps, causing anxiety and apprehension among the PCMs. We earnestly hope for a swift and permanent resolution to prevent any impact on upcoming streams and batches, bringing an end to this recurring concern.
