Auchi Polytechnic Update: ‘Have Mercy on my Son,’ Mother of Suspect Pleads as Department Hunts for Answers
Under the very nose of the Department of Electrical Engineering at Auchi Polytechnic, the Class Representative of ND1 has allegedly scammed his classmates out of ₦8,000 each.
According to reports received by BRUCASBLOG, the class representative has allegedly deceived his fellow freshmen into paying ₦8,000 each for a SIWES logbook, claiming it was a mandatory requirement, when in fact it was not.
The matter has been brought to the attention of the Head of Department of Electrical Engineering, who is now investigating and taking action to ensure that the class representative reimburses the funds of over 200 students who were duped into paying him.
The SEEES coordinator revealed that the class representative had previously perpetrated a similar fraud, where he collected ₦500 from each of his classmates for a free EED textbook, promising to refund them, but the department failed to hold him accountable, allowing him to go unpunished until now.
The HOD now regrets not taking decisive action against the class representative when he first committed fraud, which would have stripped him of his position and ensured he returned the stolen funds, and instead allowed him to continue in his role and perpetrate further fraud.
As the Department searches for the class representative to hold him accountable for his fraudulent actions, his mother has appealed to them to show mercy, after he claimed that he had lost the money, in an attempt to deflect responsibility and avoid consequences.
