August 31st Deadline: JAMB Reminds Institutions to Disclose Admissions Outside CAPS
This is a statement from the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Nigeria, clarifying a specific issue related to university/polytechnic’s admissions.
Issue: Some universities have admitted students outside the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), which is the official platform for managing university/polytechnic’s admissions in Nigeria.
Problem: JAMB has noticed that many students are coming to their offices to resolve issues related to these outside admissions.
Clarification: JAMB is saying that the responsibility for resolving these issues lies with the universities, not the students. Universities/polytechnic’s must disclose all students admitted outside CAPS by August 31st, 2024.
Consequences: If universities fail to comply, they will face severe consequences. Additionally, JAMB will not recognize students who were admitted outside CAPS and not disclosed by the universities.
Advice to students: JAMB is warning students not to accept admissions outside CAPS, as these admissions are not valid.
In summary, JAMB is emphasizing that universities must follow the proper channel (CAPS) for admitting students and must disclose any outside admissions. Students should also be aware of this and not accept unauthorized admissions.
