Synopsis of the episode
The Flash must deal with Abra Kadabra’s sudden return to Central City; Allegra deals with a tricky situation; Caitlin suspects something is off with Frost; Iris is forced to look at a dark moment in her past.
Trauma, stress, loss, grief, and a headache all play big roles in season seven episode four of The CW’s The Flash. As the episode begins a news reporter is covering how S.T.A.R. Labs and everyday citizens are volunteering to help repair Central City after the attack by the Mirror Master. The Flash surprises everyone by speeding up and letting himself be interviewed. He apologizes to the city for not being able to stop Mirror Master earlier and promises he’ll make it up to Central City. He believes the city can rebuild because he believes in its citizens. As a set-up for the rest of the season, “Central City Strong” is pretty bland, an episode that would likely annoy many viewers had it arrived after a several months’ hiatus instead of just a week, given its lackluster special effects and Barry’s decision to talk down another villain rather than fight them. But, positioned as it is, this hour actually becomes an important transition in a way that few other The Flash episodes have managed before. (And it represents an emotional depth and narrative nuance that make me very hopeful for the rest of the season to come.) Read more
Summary
One week after Eva’s attack, Central City begin to rebuild as Iris and Allegra work to cover the Mirrorverse incident. The former struggles to fa the trauma from her ordeal in the Mirrorverse while Barry grapples with his guilt over not deducing Mirror-Iris was an impostor. Meanwhi
Abra Kadabra returns and lets himself be arrest by A.R.G.U.S. so he can complete an anti-matt bomb that he intends to use on Central City in retaliation for his family being erased from existence following the Crisis and to make Barr suffer. Barry successfully talks Kadabra into disabling the bomb, but they are suddenly attacked by a monster, which absorbs the bom Kadabra attempts to save Barry, but is killed by the monster. It nearly kills Barry as well, but it winces in pain and runs off. Allegra is promote to staff writer and Iris joins a Mirrorverse suppo group. Elsewhere, after both suffering from headaches, Frost and Caitlin Snow reveal to Cis that they have separated from each other.
