My Alma mater

Poem

We hail thee

It seems such a long time

It seems such a short time

Since I came to you my pride,

Like a lonely child

Seeking for a shelter,

You did receive me,

And looked after me,

And just as a Dove nursed her child,

<
p>So did you nourish my inner Spirits,

Driving me to a higher purpose.

There in the assembly ground

We did sing and clap

There on the football field

We did play, and laugh,

Those were happy days!!

Which remind us,

That life is sweet and not thorny,

And all the trees around

Did smile to us,

And echoed the pleasant and ugly sounds we uttered

 Joyful though I say it,

Sorrow fill my heart,

For I am like a child

Who, eager though he is to leave his parents,

Knows not where he is going

But then, I must leave,. My alma mater

For although I was a child

When you took me into your care

I have now grown up.

Every new minute, hour and season

Adds to my age.

I grumble not at the fight of time because time waits for no man and she is the master of us all.

But,no; I must not delay!

I must go and help my country

And toil and sweat for her.

For she needs to be developed

So that she can take her rightful place

Among the nation of the world.

To you my Alma mater

Vale, mea Alma Mater

My source of pride
