Favour Ashley

In the bustling halls of Federal Government College Idoani, the striking figure of Favour Ashley Augustine stood out, like a pristine snowflake amid a sea of ebony. Known affectionately as the ‘Oyinbo’—a Yoruba term for ‘white person’—of her 2016 graduating class, her fair skin and unique heritage added a delightful touch of diversity to the student body. A gentle reminder that while the world may contain many shades, the beauty of individuality is what truly shines.

The lovely Favour Ashley was kind enough to share her unique experiences and rich memories of her time at Federal Government College Idoani, painting a vivid portrait of life in the corridors of this esteemed institution. Her recollections, I am certain, provide a window into a world that’s as nuanced as it is captivating, leaving you yearning for more of her delightful tales. A treat for those who relish in stories of friendship, culture, and the everyday triumphs and challenges of the student life.
She narrates:
“Coming to fegido has got to be one of my favorite memories
It got me out of my comfort zone, and thought me how to keep my emotions balanced, given the fact I had a lot of uneasy experience ( being the only half cast and the only girl in my class). I got to meet a lot of people with varying personalities, and also got to hone my principles and have a clearer view on the kind of person I wanted to be. I have a few regrets in fegido, one being my lack of courage in pursuing a prefect position, and not waiting till the the last days of our graduation to really experience it till the end. I also regret my attempt on committing suicide, although that experience helped make things clearer for me and I’m grateful for that now. I met a few people who I was able to share and experience more parts of myself with ( bukky, Yetty, bimbo, Esther, Chris, Kenny). Had a few crushes and heartbreaks as well, got accused of silly things as well, including being possessed by a marine spirit because of my hair. All in all, it was a memorable 3 years, one that I would never replace for anything and wouldn’t change, well except for a few choices mentioned above in my regrets. Thank you all for being a part of this experience with me, even those that I didn’t get the chance to associate with, and I pray we all continue living a life that we are proud of. ”
