Poem by Abiola Adedoyin

When evening comes

The sun goes away.

Bird’s find their nests

And the wandering treads

It’s homeward way treads

The hens with the chick’s

Make for the kitchen

The Market women pack thier wares

The street are busy

And smoke meander from the kitchen

When evening comes

When evening comes

The scholars, to whom time is precious

Rushes though the last few pages of his books

The farmers, hardworking as Usual,

The. Bricklayer clean himself

Gather his tools, for the day’s work is done.
