Slangs Associated with Hostel 

Line up outside – A way to call out all junior student in the morning.

Suspend – A popular punishment given to a junior student whenever a senior decides to flog he or she. The junior climbs a bunk and sometimes lift his or her leg up in the air while being flogged.

Apex – The hardest purnishment of all time, whereby a junior student is ask to grip a pole to a certain height and he or she is flogged after staying in such position for a period of time.

Line down flat (general slangs) – most common command to flog a junior student who commit an offence.

One boy/ Last person – general command used by all senior student to surmon a group of junior students.

One base – The slangs for begging another for a morsel of food. *Common

Locker room – A store room for all students to keep their lockers. It was formerly the bathing room for all boarding student. 

T-junction – The passage to the bathroom. It has a T-shape, hence the name.

G4 – Garri, Milk, Sugar and Groundnut

Last night – The last day of every session and last day before midterm.

Nabbing (general slangs) – The act of running errands for seniors

Fabbing (general slangs) – The act of stealing.


Slangs Associated with Dinning hall

Dazzolers – The greedy server who claims the whole food to themselves.

Food mongers – Lovers of food. Always in the hall before the time for food.

Dazzole – To be cheated by a greedy server

Server – mostly the first to sit on the chair amongst the first 10 persons on a table.

Runsing – To steal extra food from the hall. 

Warmer/pot – The warmer for dishing out meals.

Conference room – A room attached to the dinning hall.
