Auchi Polytechnic’s National Diploma Students Break Tradition, Celebrate Signing Out in Style

Auchi Polytechnic bid farewell to its National Diploma students as they officially signed out today.

The signing out ceremony is a cherished tradition for new graduates, where they wear white tops on which friends and loved ones sign their names. This symbolic act takes place on the second-to-last day of final exams, serving as a joyous celebration of the students’ journey and their triumph over the challenges they faced during their time at the school. Historically, National Diploma students have not seen the need to celebrate the signing out ceremony, as they still have a significant part of their academic journey ahead of them. With an additional three years of study remaining, comprising a one-year industrial training and a two-year Higher National Diploma (HND) program, they have not considered this milestone worthy of celebration, instead, focusing on the ultimate goal of completing their diploma program in its entirety.

In a reversal of tradition, National Diploma students are now enthusiastically embracing the signing out ceremony, and indeed, all other celebratory events previously reserved for HND students nearing graduation. They are marking these occasions with even greater fervor, making it increasingly challenging to distinguish between the genuine HND graduates and the National Diploma students, who are now reveling in the festivities with equal gusto.

The National Diploma students of Auchi Polytechnic are reveling in their celebratory moment, taking to the streets of Auchi in a convoy of cars, horns blaring, and spirits high. But the most hilarious highlight of their jubilation was a video capturing a group of them riding in a truck, with a playful banner reading “Trailer driver’s girlfriend don sign out” – a lighthearted and humorous nod to their accomplishment.
