The Most Tragic moment of my Life!
The Tragic lost – The day I lost everything I had.
If you’re reading this then you must be touched by my story…
Some days can’t be forgotten no matter how hard you try. Likewise, some wounds can never be healed.

I was sitting in the prep hall reading my books that evening. The hall was crowded and noisy as always then suddenly everywhere was silent at once. It happened at exactly 9:30pm. I heard screams, loud screams from the hostel. I knew something wasn’t right, I stood up wanting to have a peep to see through the window but we were asked to bow our heads.
Now there’s nothing I can do. The sound kept on increasing an then someone ran out from the hostel screaming fire fire and now it was clear something was wrong… I hurriedly ran out because my sick sister was in the hostel and the hostel was locked. And I was with the keys. Reaching there I saw the hostel was on fire, I ran to the room where she was and called her name. She was far at sleep, so I shouted her name up to three times before she could answer. She woke up scared as she was already feeling the heat of the flame on the roof, she cried out, please opened the door Rachel. But unfortunately for me I wasn’t with the right keys for the door.

Then I started crying, I told her to be brave and she should wait for me to get the right keys. So I ran back to the prep hall quickly, I was already shaking, tears, spit and catarrh rushing down from every pores. I scattered everything in my bag before I could see the keys, it took me more than 10minutes to find it this was too late already. But I thought the boys and staff out side could quench the fire on time. I ran back quickly to the hostel only to be held at the gate, I begged them to let me in but they refused saying the hostel was completely burnt down and there’s nothing they can do… I started crying and screaming.. ohhh no, I’ve lost everything I had, my sister, she’s in there, she was sick so I left her to rest in the hostel and now see what happened what will I tell my parents… I wept and wept. I tried to run to check for my sister in the burnt building but they held me again and then it was like my soul left me. I fainted and I was quickly revived but I was already so weak to get up again. I cried for about an hour and then I slept off.. when I woke up in the morning, I didn’t even know where I was, I stared at the ceiling for a while then I began to cry again after remembering what happened last night. I don’t know how I will tell my parents that I couldn’t take care of my little sister and she died because of my carelessness. I could have carried her to the clinic instead of leaving her alone in the hostel. I know my parents would never forgive me for this silly act. I stood up from the bed and I could tell I was in the clinic and when I turn I saw a ghost… My sister. I screamed!.. Nooo Please don’t kill me, I’m sorry, please forgive me for my silly mistake. As she came closer I turned my face and covered my eyes. My heart was beating faster than ever. I was so scared that I almost pee on my body. I kept screaming and the clinic nurses rushed in to see what’s happening. They thought I was going mad and so they held me and gave me a syringe and I slept again. I woke up feeling weak since I haven’t eaten anything that day. I looked up and I saw my sister again, immediately she hugged me. I couldn’t imagine. I asked is this really you?… She said yes it’s me. You saved me. I was surprised. I asked how, then she told me that when I tried opening the door with the wrong key it opened but the door was also locked inside and when she realized that, she opened it herself and ran out before the whole place burnt down. Indeed she was really lucky. I was so happy I got my sister back even though I lost every other thing that night, I’m thankful to God for saving my sister.
